faq
What is a Personal Jewellery Catalogue?
It is an inventory of your jewellery, watches, sunglasses and other small valuable items.
Why would I need my jewellery catalogued?
Close your eyes and try to list all of your jewellery pieces - 99% of people would struggle to do this.
A catalogue of your personal collection will give you peace of mind that all of your pieces are recorded in one place.
I don‘t have expensive jewellery - do I need this?
Whether you have a few costume pieces or invest in high-end quality gems, you have spent time, money and love collating your jewellery collection. Do not discount costume jewellery - it has value too and should
be noted for insurance purposes.
You may own one necklace worth £150 and 15 necklaces that cost you £10 each. You are entitled to claim both on your home insurance but you are less likely to remember to claim for the 15 costume pieces and therefore potentially underestimate the value of your jewellery collection.
How does it work?
Gather all your jewellery, watches, sunglasses together with any receipts, paperwork, certificates, etc.
Don’t forget any presentation boxes they came in.
It is best to spend a moment to make sure pieces are clean and detangle any necklaces or bracelets.
I will need a table or work top space near light and a plug socket.
Your entire collection will be photographed together as a group with you in the photo to prove ownership of the pieces.
The description of each piece will be dictated and each piece will then be photographed individually, presented in their original presentation boxes if provided, and close ups of any hallmarks, etc will be taken.
I will collate your personal catalogue and you will receive an electronic copy.
You will also have the option to purchase a beautifully bound hard copy version of your catalogue.
Why should I choose the Elementary Package?
The Elementary Package will give you 100% peace of mind that, should anything happen to your collection, all of your jewellery is recorded and photographed. All of your pieces, both luxury and costume will be documented.
You can refer to your personal jewellery catalogue for day to day planning of outfits.
Should the unthinkable happen and your items are stolen, damaged or destroyed, this catalogue can be given to the police and your insurance to help either track down your pieces or claim for your entire collection.
Should you have the misfortunate of losing a treasured piece and want to recreate it, a jeweller can reference the images to make a replacement piece.
Why should I choose the Heritage Package?
The Heritage Package is ideal for those who are looking to preserve the story of their collection.
It is a wonderful history to be passed down to future generations.
Whether it is an Art Deco ring that was passed down through the female side of the family, or a costume necklace that was a gift from a friend that has passed away, every piece has a story to tell.
Jewellery might be small but some of the pieces go back hundreds of years. Unlike paintings that can have their provenance written on a piece of paper slipped into its frame, the history of a jewellery piece is usually forgotten over time because it is treated as a piece of clothing rather than a treasure.
Its history - sometimes very significant - is much harder to document.
The Heritage Package will detail all your memories, where the pieces were purchased or who they were gifted by,
any funny anecdotes or stories and can also include photos.
It is a great way to preserve information for future generations.
What do I do if I acquire new items?
Depending on how often you acquire new pieces in your collection, the Review Package is the perfect way
to update your personal catalogue.
I will go through your collection again, noting any pieces that are no longer in your collection and
documenting and photographing all the new additions.
You will then receive an updated personal catalogue for your records.
How much do the packages cost?
Every collection is unique and varies in size and the pricing will depend on how many pieces you own and which package you choose.
It is best to contact us and we can give you a personalised quote.

I am Jo, and I have always been a jewellery magpie!
I have wonderful memories of being a little girl looking through my mother’s jewellery box whilst she dried my hair, listening as she told me stories about the different pieces.
Decades later, a new mum to my baby girl, I was channel-hopping whilst feeding her in the middle of the night and stumbled upon two documentaries.
The first documentary was about the search for the missing Romanov Tiara. Initially photographed with rest of the Russian royal jewels in 1922, when they were auctioned in 1925, this tiara, and other pieces were missing. To this day, the tiara is still at large.
The second documentary was about Elizabeth Taylor - a woman known for her love of jewellery and a true magpie at heart. The documentary mentioned Elizabeth Taylor joining the appraisers in her jewellery vault one day and telling them stories of each piece - how it was acquired, if it was a gift or a commission, if it had been altered and other tantalising titbits of its history.
But it wasn’t until our family’s matriarch fell ill,
that the details slotted into place.
When my mother was well enough to return home, the first thing she wanted to do, was go through her jewellery collection and tell me the story of each piece. Like Elizabeth Taylor, my mother knew the importance of preserving the provenance of each piece for generations to come. She also reminisced about pieces that were lost in a burglary when I was young and how she forgot to claim on her insurance as she couldn’t remember all those pieces at the time.
These conversations with my mother, together with the documentaries that I had watched, made me realise that if anything had to happen to my jewellery collection, I wouldn’t be able to recall every piece.
I also want my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to know where some of the pieces came from, why I bought them or who gifted them to me and why they were so special to the family.
Nine years later, the concept never dulled and so when I started putting pen to paper to chip away at the details, it began to sparkle like the diamond I knew it to be. Aptly named after a treasured family heirloom,
This Little Ring was born.
Jewellery will outlast and outshine us all. It will be passed down through generations of your family and when a future descendant asks where a certain piece of jewellery comes from, wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to tell them…?
I’d like to think it would.
